So…I’ve been stalking tons of amazing blogs as I get ready for the new school year and prepping for  the Daily 5! I’ve done the Daily 5 the past two years but have kind of done it my way instead of the Sisters way! This year I want to totally let go of my OCD and work on giving students that “choice” piece. I think I’m going to let the students choose their rotations this year AND will I will actually have fun activities in the word work center. In the past, I’ve been super, super lame and have had workbook (word families, spelling patterns, etc.) pages for the word work center. I know….SUPER LAME!

All that is about to change! I am very excited about the upcoming school year and the chance to revamp the Daily 5 in my room! And that starts with the word work center. I’m hoping to have between 6-8 manipulatives/different activities for the kids to use to make the spelling words for the week.  I will have another blog post next week about the specifics.
So, I have decided to jump on the bandwagon and have BOGGLE as part of the word work center. Now because the Boggle board doesn’t allow the kids to practice the weekly spelling words, I haven’t decided if I’m going to require them to do a word work activity that does involve using the weekly spelling words first AND THEN let them work on the boggle board, or if I’ll just have it as part of word work and give them that choice.
How do you use the Boggle board in your classroom? I would love to hear your thoughts!
You can also grab my boggle board here. I created it to match my polka dot themed classroom decor. I’ll have pictures of my boggle board next week!

Well it’s time for me to go run some errands for the hubby while he’s in class for medical school!
